Black out

Good News..
My (Brett) brother Scott was out here for a week and a half as I started my first week of school. I did not have much work for the first week so Scott and I got to hang out and have a good time together (getting In-n-Out burger way too much), going to an angel game, and celebrating the first week of college football together, because as you know, it is worth celebrating. Go Bruins and Jackets and Roll Tide! For the UCLA and GT game Scott and I went to my cousin Tyson's house to watch both games with him. We really had a great time, and it was good for Scott and Ty to see each other again.

On Sunday we went to church and met our good friends Brian and Carole there as well as Aunt Lynda and Uncle Bill (if you would like to see the church's website, go here http://www.sunrisechurch.org). After church we had a delicious dinner at Bill & Lynda's with Tyson and his family. We had a great time with them, but then Monday morning Scott left to go back to GA.

Bad News...
Holly and I are enjoying a nice evening in our apartment watching our television, just got done watching a movie, with the air conditioner running at full tilt. Why do we tell you this information? Because this weekend we experienced a California blackout.

What is a California black out you ask? Well, it is a power outage that occurs when the temperature is too hot for an extended period of time which causes transformers and other electrical equipment to burn out/up. Which in turn causes humans to burn up. That is how Holly and I felt in our apartment on Sunday night, probably sleeping a total of 20-30 minutes the entire night. Monday night we got a bit wiser and spent the evening and night in a hotel...an air conditioned hotel. I know we sound like spoiled brats, but with temperatures reaching 110-115 around here it was getting pretty ridiculous.

When we returned home today the electric company had three trucks out working on our power which was restored this morning. Praise the Lord for electricity!
That was our Labor day weekend.
